Coltene Roeko Gelatamp is a gelatine sponge developed for the prophylaxis of wound infections and secondary bleeding following dental extractions and surgical procedures. Unlike conventional gelatine sponges, Gelatamp contains colloidal silver, providing a broad antibacterial effect throughout the entire absorption period and giving the sponge its characteristic brown color.

It supports rapid hemostasis, stabilizes the blood coagulum, and promotes uneventful wound healing while being fully resorbable.

Indications:

• Treatment of alveoli and wound cavities after:

Mode of Action:

• Absorption: The sponge absorbs 55–75 times its own weight in blood without expanding, preventing pressure sensation and supporting rapid hemostasis.
• Thrombocyte Aggregation: The sponge structure enhances platelet aggregation and promotes clot formation.
• Coagulum Stabilization: Prevents contraction of the coagulum, reducing secondary cavities and disturbances in healing.
• Antimicrobial Depot Effect: Silver ions are released throughout the resorption period, providing broad-spectrum antibacterial protection and reducing infection risk.
• Complete Resorption: Fully resorbs within approximately 4 weeks, matching the natural healing period.
